Rod Mengham is a professor at the University of Cambridge, exhibition director at Jesus College in the city, poet and art critic. He uses Agnes Thurnauer’s bold bias to further the analysis of painting. In the creator’s « deaf » works, the audible is transformed into visible. Now famous for her « life-size portraits » in which artists reduced to their names change genre (« Jacqueline Lacan », « Jeanne Galliano », etc.), the designer refers to the great tradition of portraiture in art history to deconstruct it.

A Tour around Agnès Thurnauer was published following the exhibition Agnès Thurnauer. A history of painting at the Château of Montsoreau – Museum of contemporary art, from June 25 to October 25, 2016.
